We are looking for an experienced SAP Basis & BTP Architect to own the technical foundation of our RISE with SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition environment. You will manage the Basis layer across S/4HANA, EWM, SAP Cloud ALM and SAP BTP, act as the technical authority on landscape design, and work closely with SAP Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS), project teams and the business to keep the platform stable, secure and ready to evolve.
Key responsibilities
RISE / S/4HANA Private Cloud management
Administer and operate the SAP landscape under RISE with SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition, covering S/4HANA, EWM, SAP Cloud ALM and BTP.
Monitor system health, performance and capacity, and handle incident, problem and change management for the Basis layer.
Plan and execute technical lifecycle activities: kernel and SPS updates, support packages, upgrades and patching.
Manage transports, system refreshes and copies, and client administration across DEV, QA and PRD.
Own authorizations at technical level (Basis roles, RFC/trust relationships, SSO, certificates).
Project support
Provide Basis and technical architecture support to implementation, migration and rollout projects.
Prepare and maintain environments for project phases (sandbox, build, test, cutover), including system provisioning requests to ECS.
Support cutover planning and go-live activities, including technical readiness and hypercare.
Contribute to technical design documents, runbooks and operational handover.
Landscape and system advisory
Advise on landscape strategy: system topology, sizing, transport routes, and integration between S/4HANA, EWM and BTP services.
Recommend and review system parameters, profile settings, HANA configuration and performance tuning.
Define and review architecture for BTP (subaccounts, entitlements, connectivity via Cloud Connector,



identity and authentication, CI/CD and transport management).
Evaluate clean-core and extensibility approaches (side-by-side on BTP vs. in-app) and guide teams on technical trade-offs.
Support security, compliance and audit requirements (hardening, patch levels, access reviews, data protection).
SAP ECS / RISE Basis layer management
Act as the main technical interface with SAP ECS for the RISE Basis layer: raise and track service requests, changes and incidents, and validate delivery against the contract scope.
Clarify and enforce the responsibility split between ECS (infrastructure, OS, DB operations, backup, DR) and the customer (application-level Basis, configuration, governance).
Review ECS reports (availability, SLAs, patching, backup and DR tests) and escalate deviations.
Coordinate maintenance windows, downtime planning and DR/HA validation.
Required qualifications
5+ years of hands-on SAP Basis experience, with at least 2 years on S/4HANA and exposure to RISE with SAP or comparable managed cloud models.
Strong knowledge of SAP HANA administration, SAP NetWeaver / ABAP and Java stacks, SAP Web Dispatcher and the Cloud Connector.
Experience with EWM (embedded or decentralized) from a technical and integration perspective.
Practical experience with SAP BTP: account and subaccount model, connectivity, identity (IAS/IPS/XSUAA), Cloud Transport Management and core runtime services (Cloud Foundry, and ideally Kyma or ABAP environment).
Experience with SAP Cloud ALM (monitoring, change and deployment management, operations).
Solid understanding of landscape design, transport management, system copy/refresh and upgrade methodologies.
Experience working with a hosting or managed-services provider and managing SLAs and service requests.
Good written and spoken English.
Must be EU citizen.
