In this Europe-wide role, you will lead the OCC performance agenda across DS Smith Paper, partnering with mills to turn data into practical improvements. You’ll define KPIs, use digital tools to monitor performance, and drive sustainable enhancements in fibre yield, quality, capacity, and energy. You’ll shape technology investment and CAPEX strategies, supporting major OCC preparation projects and sharing best practices across the network. Your work will connect technical insight with operations to scale improvements and advance the division’s objectives.

• Lead the OCC performance agenda across the Paper division with mills and OCC specialists to identify and deliver opportunities for improvement
• Define, develop and monitor KPIs using digital tools and data to track OCC performance across the network
• Analyse operational data to identify trends, gaps and improvement opportunities in fibre yield, capacity, fibre quality, waste disposal costs and energy
• Collaborate with local operations and technical teams to understand processes and identify practical performance improvements
• Support PaperPro audits and translate opportunities into clear action plans with measurable improvements
• Develop and implement improvement plans prioritised by impact, feasibility and value
• Share and embed best practices across the division to replicate successful approaches
• Support major OCC preparation projects from concept through implementation
• Assist in developing long-term technology and investment plans with robust business cases for CAPEX
• Evaluate emerging technologies and solutions that could improve OCC performance, automation, sustainability or efficiency




• Lead or support RFQ processes for major CAPEX projects, conducting comparative analyses for decision-making
• Coordinate with factories, suppliers and project teams to manage scope, timelines, budgets
• Maintain oversight of OCC projects within the investment plan and ensure alignment with budgets and objectives
• Collaborate with Finance to monitor cash CAPEX expenditure and forecast needs
• Build relationships across the Paper division as a technical partner to leadership, operations and engineering
• Influence stakeholders to drive standards and accelerate improvements

Responsabilidades
• Strong technical knowledge of OCC preparation and paper mill processes
• Experience using operational data and KPIs to identify gaps and measure improvements
• Track record of delivering continuous improvement or process optimization in manufacturing
• Experience with CAPEX projects including technical evaluation, RFQs, budgets and implementation
• Ability to collaborate with operations, engineering, finance, suppliers and senior stakeholders across locations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate complex data into actionable plans
• Proactive in identifying new technologies and evaluating their impact
• Confidence to challenge processes and influence without direct authority
• Strong project and organizational skills managing multiple priorities across a dispersed network
• Excellent communication skills with technical and leadership audiences
• Willingness and ability to travel across Europe
