Would you like to be part of this project?
Applus+ is looking for a Digital Product Controller, to join the Corporate IT Department reporting to the Global CIO and the Head of Digital Factory.
The Digital Product Controller will turn financial and delivery data into transparent, reliable and actionable insights for portfolio governance and decision-making.
The role has one overarching mission: to provide the Head of Digital Factory with an integrated view of portfolio health across Spain, Colombia and the Philippines. This combines financial and project control of the Digital Factory portfolio and other relevant initiatives requested by management with squad performance monitoring based on consistent delivery, quality and efficiency metrics.
Main Responsibilities:
- Project control: Own the monitoring of the Digital Factory project portfolio and other relevant initiatives requested by the management, covering Spain, Colombia and the Philippines.
- Consolidate budgets, forecasts, actuals, commitments and expected-at-completion figures, ensuring consistent criteria across projects and regions.
- Track project costs, internal and external resources, purchase orders, invoices, accruals, capitalization where applicable, and financial variances against approved plans.
- Identify deviations, financial risks and emerging trends early; work with Product Owners, Squad Leads and regional stakeholders to define corrective actions and follow them through to closure.
- Prepare clear monthly reporting, forecasts and management dashboards for the Head of Digital Factory and relevant governance forums.
- Support annual budgeting, periodic reforecasting, business cases, investment tracking and portfolio prioritization with robust analysis.
- Squad performance: Define and maintain a consistent performance framework for Digital Factory squads, balancing speed, predictability, quality and value delivery.
- Monitor and analyse indicators such as velocity, throughput,
sprint predictability, cycle time, lead time, backlog health, release frequency, defects, escaped bugs, rework and delivery against commitments.
- Build standardized dashboards and scorecards by squad, product and region, ensuring data quality, traceability and comparability.
- Translate performance data into practical insights, highlighting bottlenecks, capacity constraints, quality issues and improvement opportunities without losing the operational context behind the metrics.
- Partner with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Engineering Leads, Finance and regional teams to agree actions and monitor measurable improvements.
- Use AI-enabled analytics and automation to improve data consolidation, anomaly detection, forecasting, reporting and management follow-up.
- Continuously improve governance, reporting standards, KPI definitions and control processes across the Digital Factory.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a rigorous, hands-on and business-oriented professional who can turn financial and delivery data into clear management insight and practical action.
You combine strong analytical judgement, attention to detail and reporting discipline with the ability to engage Product Owners, squad leads, finance teams and international stakeholders. You are comfortable challenging data, identifying root causes and following agreed actions through to completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Data Analytics or a related field.
- 6–8 years of relevant experience in project controlling, portfolio controlling, PMO, technology finance, digital delivery performance, or similar roles.
- Proven experience controlling project budgets, forecasts, actuals, commitments, variances and risks in complex, multi-project environments.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to convert large, heterogeneous datasets into concise conclusions, recommendations and executive-level reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI; experience integrating information from financial, project-management and agile-delivery systems.
- Solid understanding of agile product delivery and squad metrics, including velocity, throughput, predictability, cycle time, lead time, backlog health, defects and quality trends.
- Practical knowledge of artificial intelligence and analytics automation for controlling and monitoring, including data consolidation, anomaly detection, forecasting, insight generation and recurring reporting.
- High attention to detail, data-quality discipline and ability to establish clear controls, definitions and audit trails.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management and influencing skills, with confidence working across functions, seniority levels and cultures.
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a Digital Factory, software product organization, technology PMO or international shared-service environment.
- Knowledge of Jira, Azure DevOps or comparable agile-delivery tools, and of ERP or financial systems such as SAP.
- Experience with portfolio governance, product economics, capacity planning, vendor-cost control or capitalization of technology investments.
- Exposure to distributed teams in Spain, Colombia and the Philippines.
What We Offer
- A high-impact role reporting directly to the Head of Digital Factory, with visibility across the Digital Factory portfolio and squads.
- The opportunity to shape the financial and performance-control model of an international digital delivery organization.
- Close collaboration with Product Owners, Product Managers in the business, squad leads, Finance and regional teams in Spain, Colombia and the Philippines.
- A full-time, permanent position based in Bellaterra / Barcelona.
