About the Software department The Software department manages data sent from a wide range of hardware sensors and cameras, turning it into valuable insights for both our customers and our internal support and hardware teams. We build software across every stage of the IoT data flow — from data streaming to batch processing, machine learning, AI, and visualization tools (web and mobile apps).

Tech stack

Here's a look at the toolkit we use as an IoT tech company:

- Streaming: we use Apache Flink for real-time data streaming and processing.
- Storage: Apache Iceberg, Redis, and PostgreSQL serve as our storage layer for further analysis.
- Backend: Java and Python power our core software solutions, including sensor data streaming and API integrations with third-party systems.
- Data Science: our team processes massive volumes of text-based data using Apache Spark, Pandas, and Scikit-learn, applying machine learning to improve detection from our hardware sensors.
- Computer Vision:



we use models such as YOLO for real-time object detection from our camera-based ("software") sensors.
- Frontend: React and TypeScript for web interfaces. Flutter for mobile development (iOS and Android).
- Deployment: Kubernetes clusters, on AWS and on our own infrastructure, following a microservices approach for flexibility and scalability.
- AI-first tooling: we're evolving into an AI-first company, using Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to build software and create internal tools.

About the role As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll be a key contributor to the services that power our IoT platform. You'll build new features and services in Python and help maintain and gradually modernize our existing Java systems, ensuring they remain stable, reliable, and scalable as our sensor network grows.

What You'll Do

- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs, primarily in Python .
- Maintain, improve, and troubleshoot existing Java applications, and contribute to their progressive migration or modernization where it makes sense.
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party systems through APIs.
- Develop scalable, well-tested microservices that process and expose data coming from our IoT sensors.
- Work with relational and in-memory databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis .
- Collaborate with frontend, data, and hardware teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Participate in code reviews,



technical discussions, and architectural decisions.
- Help us improve our engineering practices, including testing, CI/CD, and the use of AI-assisted development tools.

What We're Looking For

- 3–4+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Solid, hands-on experience with Python for building backend services and APIs.
- Working knowledge of Java , with the ability to read, maintain, and improve existing codebases.
- Good understanding of software design principles, REST APIs, and microservices architectures.
- Experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL ) and SQL.
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to work in a multicultural team, with good communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes .
- Experience with cloud platforms, ideally AWS .
- Familiarity with Redis , messaging systems (e.g. RabbitMQ), or data streaming technologies (e.g. Apache Flink).
- Previous experience working with IoT systems or large volumes of sensor data.
- Experience refactoring or migrating legacy systems.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.
