DescriptionJob Title:OB Tech; FTSupervised by:Registered Nurse, Charge NurseJob Summary:The OB Tech supports the Labor and Delivery team by assisting in the care of mothers and newborns during the childbirth process. This includes preparing delivery rooms, maintaining sterile environments, assisting during deliveries (including cesarean sections), and providing post-delivery support. The OB Tech works under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians.Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:Prepare and maintain sterile environments for labor, delivery, and surgical procedures.Assist physicians and nurses during vaginal deliveries and C-sections.Set up and break down delivery and surgical rooms,



including equipment sterilization.Transport patients to and from the operating room or delivery suites.Monitor and restock surgical and delivery supplies.Handle and label specimens for laboratory testing.Maintain accurate patient documentation and equipment logs.Provide comfort measures and non-clinical support to patients and families.Clean and prepare instruments and equipment for reuse.Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.Meets communication needs of patients.Performs other duties as assigned, within the Nursing Assistant's scope of practice.Assists in admission, transfer and discharge of patient.Demonstrates ability to communicate to the nurse any observed changes in patient status and responses.Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patient; answers questions within scope of practice.Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services within scope of practice.Communicates appropriately and clearly to team leader, co-workers and physicians.Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.De
