The Primary Teaching Assistant plays a key role in supporting the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences for pupils. The role involves working closely with children to promote their academic, social, and emotional development within a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment. The Teaching Assistant helps ensure that every child is supported to reach their full potential. Responsibilities Support the class teacher in the planning, preparation, and delivery of learning activities. Work with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce learning and provide targeted support. Assist in creating a positive, stimulating, and well-organised classroom environment. Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour in line with the school’s policies. Help assess and record pupil progress, feeding back to the class teacher as appropriate.



Prepare and organise learning materials and classroom resources. Support pupils with additional learning needs or special educational needs (SEN), adapting tasks where necessary. Supervise pupils during classroom activities, break times, and school outings when required. Contribute to maintaining a safe and inclusive school environment. Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development opportunities. Requirements Experience working with children in an educational setting (primary age preferred). A good understanding of child development and primary education practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive attitude. Good organisational skills and attention to detail. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
