Overview

As Senior Engineering Manager, you lead Preply’s Data Platform, owning strategy, execution, and team health for data, ML, and analytics initiatives. You’ll shape the Lakehouse foundation, data ingestion, governance, and reliability to empower cross-functional teams. You’ll mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and partner with Analytics, ML, Product, Security, and Engineering leaders to deliver measurable value. This is a high-impact role at a fast-growing, globally focused company.

Responsabilidades

- Lead a high-performing data engineering team and cultivate ownership and technical excellence
- Mentor engineers through feedback, career development, and inclusive, collaborative culture
- Define long-term vision for Preply's data foundation (Lakehouse, ingestion, contracts, governance) aligned with company goals
- Prioritize high-impact opportunities with Analytics, ML Platform, Data Science, and Product to maximize value
- Translate strategy into executable plans balancing foundational investment with near-term needs




- Provide technical leadership across batch and streaming ingestion, data modeling, quality, and governance
- Establish data reliability with SLOs, observability, and incident response for pipelines
- Champion engineering best practices and continuous process/product improvements
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business to align data ownership, standards, and outcomes
- Oversee hiring, team composition, and operating model to adapt to platform growth

Requisitos principales

- 8+ years of software or data engineering experience
- 5+ years in engineering management leading data or platform teams
- Strong technical judgment and systems thinking
- Proven track record in hiring, coaching, and retaining senior engineers
- Product & Business Partnership experience with Analytics, Data Science, ML, and Product
- Clear communication and stakeholder leadership across diverse teams
- Results-oriented with proven ability to drive performance
- Ethical leadership and a culture of psychological safety and ownership
