The successful candidate will participate in biomedical research projects primarily focused on viral infections. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative, cutting-edge research within a highly collaborative national and international network.
The PhD student position will be linked to the project entitled “Unlocking pathways for next-generation therapies: CD169 at the crossroads of viral pathogenesis and immunomodulation” (PID OB-I00), granted as well by the Spanish Research Agency .
The role includes working with established technologies within the group, as well as developing and implementing new experimental approaches. The candidate will also be required to work in Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) facilities.
Job duties
- Independently perform daily wet-lab experimental work
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of protocols and data analysis workflows
- Collaborate with research partners in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation
- Prepare scientific presentations and manuscripts for publication
- Present research findings internally and at external meetings and conferences
- Communicate regularly with the Principal Investigators regarding progress
- Commit to full-time work with a adaptable schedule
Requirements
Research Field Biological sciences » Biology Education Level Master Degree or equivalent
Skills/Qualifications
- Competitive academic record aligned with PhD program requirements
- Prior scientific output (conference presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications) is an advantage
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and report scientific results
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Technical skills (desirable): flow cytometry, primary cell culture, functional immune assays, molecular biology techniques
- Strong motivation to pursue a scientific research career
The candidate should be a very self-reliant person, becoming an asset to the team, as will have to design innovative and creative experimental approaches.
Specific Requirements
Minimum of 6–12 months of laboratory experience (during Bachelor’s and/or Master’s training).
