Senior Environmental Consultant – Industrial Permitting

About the Position
At MAI Group, we are looking for a Senior Environmental Consultant with proven experience in environmental permitting for industrial projects to join our Environment team in Valladolid.
We are seeking a technically skilled professional capable of independently managing projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and advising clients on the development and implementation of environmental permitting strategies.
The successful candidate will contribute to industrial projects of varying complexity, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimizing administrative approval processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate environmental permitting and authorization projects for industrial facilities.
- Advise clients on environmental permitting strategies, optimizing administrative procedures and approval timelines.
- Prepare and supervise technical documentation for Integrated Environmental Authorizations (IEA), waste management permits, wastewater discharge permits, and other sector-specific authorizations.
- Prepare Environmental Impact Studies (EIS) and manage Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedures.
- Coordinate specialized technical studies, including atmospheric emissions, odour dispersion, acoustic impact assessments, and cultural heritage assessments.
- Contribute to Environmental Risk Assessments, Climate Change Resilience Reports, and Environmental Monitoring Programmes.
- Manage and monitor administrative procedures, liaising with public authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams and ensure the quality and timely delivery of project documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Forestry Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the environmental sector.
- Demonstrated experience in environmental permitting and authorization procedures for industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Proven experience in technical project coordination and management.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Results-oriented mindset, autonomy, and strong attention to detail.
Additional Qualifications (Desirable)
- Experience with Integrated Environmental Authorization (IEA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedures.
- Knowledge of Environmental Risk Assessment.
- Experience in carbon footprint calculations and climate change adaptation and resilience reporting.
- Experience implementing or managing Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 and EMAS).
- Experience optimizing administrative authorization and permitting processes.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills, particularly when dealing with public administrations.
- Proficiency in project management tools.
