Requirements
• Candidates must have at least one year of experience supporting autistic or neurodivergent children, whether paid or volunteer. This can include work as a school or classroom aide, support worker, camp counsellor, respite carer, or nanny/babysitter for a child with additional needs.
• Candidates should have experience supporting a child through difficult moments, such as distress, meltdowns, or sensory overload, in a calm and patient way.
• Candidates must be able to provide a current Portuguese criminal record certificate (certificado de registo criminal) for work with minors, or an equivalent background check from their country of residence.
• Candidates must be comfortable communicating in English, since English is the language of instruction.
• Candidates must have the right to work in Portugal.

Nice to have
• Any short course or training in autism, special educational needs,



or communication support (such as visual schedules or picture-based communication) is a plus.
• A paediatric first aid certificate is helpful, and we can support the right candidate in getting one.
• Some Portuguese is useful for outings and day-to-day interactions in the community.
• Experience helping with personal care routines is useful if this student needs that support.

Who we’re looking for
• We are looking for someone who is warm, patient, reliable, and respectful of the different ways autistic young people communicate and learn.
• The right person will follow the student’s support plan and the team’s guidance, notice what is working, and share their observations with us.
• We provide training and ongoing support from our learning coaches.

Hours: 12:00-16:30 Monday to Thursday
