We are looking to hire a Senior Flavorist for our technical team.
Job Description
The Senior Flavorist is responsible for designing, creating, improving, and optimizing high-quality food flavors that are safe for human health, tailored to the needs of the company’s clients, applications, and markets, with a special focus on emerging markets in Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. They contribute to the development of competitive solutions, provide technical support to clients and internal departments, and ensure compliance with quality standards, food safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop new food flavors and counter-flavors—both liquid and solid, sweet and savory—from the initial briefing through sample production and transfer to production.
- Interpret the needs of strategic markets and customers, proposing solutions regarding sensory profile, cost, application, and raw material availability.
- Develop appropriate solutions for the markets in Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, taking into account sensory preferences, applications, available raw materials, and Halal, Kosher, allergen, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Revise existing formulas and optimize their organoleptic properties, stability, cost, and compliance with new regulations or applications.
- Research, evaluate, and approve new raw materials with the potential to improve the chemical and sensory properties of flavors, in coordination with Purchasing and Quality.
- Conduct sensory analyses and evaluations of raw materials, flavors, samples, and market references.
- Monitor production processes and oversee specific manufacturing runs, providing support during scale-up and incident resolution.
- Provide technical advice to Sales, subsidiaries, and customers,
participating as needed in site visits, application testing, and problem-solving.
- Provide technical support to Sales, Purchasing, Quality Control, Production, Application, and Selection.
- Stay informed about trends and innovations in food flavors and propose new lines of development.
- Participate, as required, in HACCP, Halal, food crisis, or other food safety-related teams.
- Comply with and promote standards for quality, food safety, the environment, and occupational risk prevention.
- Provide knowledge and technical guidance to other flavorists on the team, acting as a senior resource when necessary.
- Perform the substitute duties described in the cross-functional matrix.

- A college degree or advanced vocational training in chemistry, food technology, laboratory work, the manufacture of food ingredients and/or additives, or chemicals.
- 8–10 years of prior experience in flavorings, with demonstrable experience in food flavor development.
- A master’s degree or specialized training in food flavors is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of raw materials used in food flavors and their sensory and technical properties.
- Knowledge of food safety and quality regulations and standards (GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, Halal, Kosher, allergens, and occupational risk prevention).
- High level of Spanish. Professional-level English, both spoken and written.
- Good teamwork attitude and focus on internal service.
- Must have a driver’s license and a personal vehicle.
