Dematic employs over 10,000 skilled logistics professionals to serve its customers globally, with engineering centres and manufacturing facilities located around the world.Software Design Engineers play a vital role in performing electrical and PLC software design and commissioning activities within allocated cost and time constraints of the material‑handling project. They ensure all activities follow correct methods and standards to meet the customer's project requirements.ResponsibilitiesProduce PLC software and/or visualization systems.Emulate and test PLC software.Interpret electrical schematics and design input information.Lead controls engineering activities related to project design and implementation.Lead controls engineering design teams.Provide technical guidance.Ensure systems designed and supplied are CE compliant to the Machinery Directive.Produce all associated documentation, including design calculations, design specifications, method statements, risk assessments, operation and maintenance manuals, and test mission controls systems on site and provide support to system commissioning activities and training for the end users.Assist in the development of the integral Dematic controls standard.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain the Dematic image as a top‑quality professional company by adopting an honest,
professional and attentive approach.Maintain good relationships with all internal and external customers, through the provision of a high‑quality service.Liaise with other company departments, customers and sub‑contractors.Maintain and use wherever possible Dematic ply with company policies.Promote personal and business continuous improvement of processes to achieve improved time, cost and quality or project delivery.Qualifications and ExperienceHNC/HND in Electrical, Mechatronics or Controls Engineering as a minimum.Experience in a similar role.Extensive proven hands‑on experience working within an industrial automation environment.Advanced understanding of PLC development tools.Good understanding of electrical and electronic technical manuals & drawings.Understanding of design requirements such as Machine Directive and its safety standards.Good understanding of distributed control systems.Extensive understanding of software testing and emulation.Previous use of CAD tools.Understanding of automated warehouse desirable, not essential.Special ConditionsRole will require 60% travel to customer sites within the EMEA European region and occasional travel to other Dematic offices or facilities across Europe.Possibility to be home base.BenefitsCareer developmentCompetitive compensation and benefitsPay transparencyMedical & dental plansGlobal opportunities to develop your careerLearn more at
