Join our Data Management & Governance team and help build the foundation for trusted, reusable, and AI-ready data across Boehringer Ingelheim. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the technical implementation and evolution of our Data Governance Platform, with a strong focus on Collibra, and platform integrations. You will work hands-on with modern data and cloud technologies while guiding engineers, shaping solution design, and helping shape the future of our governance ecosystem. Our governance capability provides the frameworks, standards, metadata, and quality foundations that enable trusted data usage across the enterprise. You will work closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Platform Teams across the broader Data, AI & Integration landscape, including Snowflake, Databricks, APIs, and enterprise integration services.Tasks and responsibilitiesLead the design and implementation of capabilities on our Data Governance PlatformDevelop and extend Collibra-based solutions and integrationsProvide technical leadership and mentoring to internal and external engineering teamsBuild metadata-driven automation, workflows, and self-service capabilitiesSupport integration of governance capabilities across the broader enterprise data ecosystemLead technical implementation across internal and external engineering teamsContribute hands-on through coding, reviews, troubleshooting, and solution designDrive solution quality, scalability, maintainability, and operational excellenceContribute to architecture discussions, engineering standards, and platform evolutionCollaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and Platform Teams to deliver roadmap initiativesRequirementsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field5-6+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Technical Consulting, Developer Enablement, or a similar technical roleStrong experience in software engineering, solution design, and technical leadership within enterprise environmentsExperience designing and implementing enterprise applications, integrations, APIs, and event-driven architecturesHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, DevOps practices, automation, and modern software delivery approachesExperience working with cloud-native architectures and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, or similar technologiesKnowledge of Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Catalog, Data Quality, or related data management solutions; experience with Collibra is highly desirableExperience in Data Engineering, metadata automation,
