Bioinformatician in the Bioinformatics and Genomics (Core Technologies Units)Bioinformatician in the Bioinformatics and Genomics (Core Technologies Units)The InstituteThe Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a versátil and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.The CRG Bioinformatics Unit is seeking a Bioinformatician to support bioinformatics workflows for high-throughput sequencing technologies, ensuring reliable data processing, quality control, integration of new technologies, and reproducible analysis. The successful candidate will act as a liaison between the CRG Genomics and Bioinformatics Units and contribute to the implementation, evaluation, and benchmarking of new sequencing technologies and associated bioinformatics analyses.Opportunities for conference attendance and career development are available.About the Bioinformatics unitThe Bioinformatics Unit supports CRG and external researchers with experimental design, high-throughput sequencing data analysis, software/pipelines and database development, and other scalable bioinformatics solutions that enable reproducible and FAIR research, supported by training and dissemination of best practices.Whom would we like to hire?Professional experienceMust haveUnderstanding of experimental design and statistical concepts relevant to high-throughput sequencing dataExperience analysing omics data,



such as RNA-seq, WGS/WES, or single-cell sequencing dataAbility to interpret analysis results in a biological context and identify potential technical or analytical biasesProficiency in R and/or Python, with working knowledge of BashExperience with workflow management systems such as Nextflow, Snakemake, or similarExperience with Git for version control and collaborative developmentComfortable working in Linux/Unix and high-performance computing (HPC) environmentsUnderstanding of reproducibility and good practices in scientific computingBasic experience with container technologies such as Docker or Singularity/ApptainerExperience collaborating with researchers to define analytical approaches and interpret results.Experience providing training and user supportNice to haveExperience with software maintenance, testing, and troubleshootingExperience preparing technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)Familiarity with CI/CD practicesExperience supporting technical personnel and operational workflows in a genomics or sequencing technology environmentExperience evaluating, benchmarking, or implementing new sequencing technologies or bioinformatics methodEducation and trainingPhD or MSc in Bioinformatics,
