We are looking for a VAT Compliance Specialist to join the Tax/Finance team of a leading company in the beverage and FMCG sector, based in Barcelona.
The position will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely management of VAT and other indirect tax compliance obligations, supporting the business across its domestic and international operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with solid experience in VAT compliance who enjoys working in an international, fast-paced business environment and collaborating closely with Finance, Accounting and other internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate VAT compliance activities, ensuring accurate and timely preparation and filing of VAT returns and related indirect tax obligations.
• Review accounting and transactional data to identify potential VAT implications, inconsistencies or compliance risks.
• Monitor changes in VAT legislation and assess their potential impact on the business.
• Support the correct VAT treatment of domestic and cross-border transactions, including intra-EU operations.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors and local teams when required.
• Provide support during tax audits, inspections and information requests from tax authorities.
• Assist with reconciliations between VAT reporting and accounting records, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of VAT processes, controls and compliance procedures.
• Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other business functions on indirect tax matters.
• Support the implementation of process improvements and, where applicable, automation and tax technology initiatives.
• Prepare analysis and reporting related to VAT compliance and indirect tax risks
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Law or a related fiel
