Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Unified Compute team, you will own the backend layer that turns compute capability into configurable, billable services for customers. You’ll enable multi-cloud and on-prem provisioning, multi-tenant usage tracking, and pay-as-you-go and free-tier journeys. You’ll shape architecture, data models, and APIs, collaborating across product, platform, and infrastructure teams. Your work directly impacts reliability and transparency of compute and billing for biotech researchers and enterprises. This role blends deep backend engineering with end-to-end ownership in a fast-growing, remote-friendly environment.

Responsabilidades

- Build and own the integration between Seqera Intelligent Compute and the Seqera Platform
- Own Platform compute environments across AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, HPC schedulers, and GPU-enabled executions
- Integrate with cloud provider APIs and handle real-world failure scenarios and provider quirks
- Own billing and pay-as-you-go paths, including metering, invoicing, and onboarding journeys




- Design consistent data models and APIs across services and releases
- Make failures legible through user-friendly diagnostics and robust observability
- Collaborate with Platform, product, and support teams and document system decisions for long-term maintainability
- Take design ownership and ensure the system is well-documented and not dependent on a single person

Requisitos principales

- 4+ years building and operating production backend services with ownership
- Strong in Java and/or Groovy, with Micronaut, Spring Boot or similar
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider API for programmatic provisioning and resource management
- Experience with Kubernetes and running workloads
- Commitment to data correctness, with experience in billing, metering or related data-sensitive systems
- Experience designing REST APIs and stable data models across versions
- Customer-facing production accountability
- Comfort with ambiguity and self-driven work, proactive communication
- Open to using AI as part of daily engineering practice
