Estimator / Work Planner – Surface Treatment & Coatings

Before the first square metre of hull is blasted, someone has worked out what the job will cost, how long it will take and what might get in the way. At the Braspenning Group in Cernaval that 'someone', is you.

Who we are

The Braspenning Group has protected steel against corrosion since 1956. We blast and industrially coat ships (including cruise ships), bridges, tanks, cranes and offshore structures, among others, from locations in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain and Curaçao.

In Spain, Braspenning Coatings S.L. carries out maritime corrosion protection projects at the Cernaval shipyard in Algeciras and at other sites. We have signed a framework agreement with a Spanish state-owned company, and our Iberian team is growing fast. That's why we're looking for a skilled and meticulous estimator and work planner for our team at Cernaval and other Spanish locations.

What your work looks like

You take a client's request and turn it into a well-founded quotation and a realistic plan. Because of you, our crews start every job thoroughly prepared. You report to the Operations Manager in Spain and to the Dutch board, and work closely with colleagues at other locations across our international group.

- Estimating: you calculate costs for blasting and coating projects, including surface areas, materials, labour hours, equipment and scaffolding.
- Work preparation: once a project is awarded, you get it ready for execution: planning, materials, manpower and coordination with the yard.
- Risk assessment: you spot technical, financial and scheduling risks early and set out how to manage them.
- Advising: you are project management's go-to person on cost,



approach and feasibility.
- On site: you split your time between the office and the dock. You see the vessels you estimate for with your own eyes.
- Media documenting: you continuously capture photos and video of each project, before and after the steel conservation is done.

Your profile:

- You have experience in estimating, preferably in shipbuilding, ship repair, surface treatment or industrial maintenance.
- You live in Spain, ideally in the Campo de Gibraltar area.
- You have a technical education at higher vocational or bachelor's level.
- You speak English and Spanish fluently, at native or near-native level. Dutch is a welcome bonus.
- A technical maritime background is a strong plus.
- You hold valid occupational health and safety training (PRL).
- You think analytically, you are cost-conscious, and you keep a close eye on the planning and risks of maritime corrosion protection projects.
