About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and expert Clinical Pharmacist specializing in Oncology to join their esteemed healthcare team in Queenstown . This role focuses on providing specialized pharmaceutical care to cancer patients, ensuring safe and effective medication therapy management. You will collaborate closely with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize treatment plans, monitor patient response, and educate patients on their therapies. This is a critical position within the hospital setting, contributing to high-quality patient care and outcomes in the Eastern Cape region.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize pharmacotherapy for oncology patients, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care medications.
- Conduct comprehensive medication reviews, identify potential drug interactions, and recommend appropriate therapeutic alternatives.
- Provide direct patient education on medication regimens, side effects, and adherence strategies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary oncology tumor boards and patient care rounds.




- Monitor patient outcomes, toxicity, and adherence, intervening as necessary to ensure optimal therapeutic results.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and contribute to pharmacy quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with advancements in oncology pharmacotherapy through continuing education and literature review.

Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Pharmacist in good standing with the relevant regulatory board.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical pharmacy, with a significant focus on oncology.
- Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency; PGY2 Oncology Residency is highly preferred.
- Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (e.g., BCPS) or Oncology (e.g., BCOP) is desirable.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
