The Opportunity:
McArthur has partnered with Doable ; a progressive disability support organisation committed to delivering person-centred supports, empowering people to live an ordinary life and more meaningful futures. At Doable, we lead with presence, integrity and courage. We show up for each other, and most importantly our curiosity allows us to co-create a way forward together.
We are seeking a Safety & Wellbeing Advisor, that plays a pivotal, senior role at the intersection of expert knowledge and meaningful partnership. No two days are the same. You'll move between frontline services and head office, partnering with leaders to bring safety to life in practical ways. One day might start in a home, coaching leaders through a post-incident risk assessment, before shifting to head office to support a complex return to work case, liaise on training needs or facilitate an engaging OHS Committee briefing.
Along the way, you'll analyse safety trends, collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership. It's a dynamic, hands-on role where your impact is defined by what you enable others to do. Creating confident leaders, effective systems and a culture where safety is embedded in everyday practice.
If you're an experienced safety professional who thrives on influencing outcomes, building capability and making a tangible impact, this may be the perfect opportunity for you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Systems & Risk:
Lead the development and continuous improvement of Doables' safety and wellbeing framework through risk assessments and audits, maintaining policies, analysis of safety data (including vehicle safety) and addressing systemic risk.
- Incident Management: Support leaders to confidently investigate staff incidents, complex investigations, and analyse trends to deliver consistent, trauma-informed responses.
- Safety, Culture & Capability Building: Embed a culture of continuous improvement in safety leadership, while coaching and supporting leaders to take ownership of safety, through delivery of engaging learning and development initiatives.
- Return to Work: Provide expert guidance on return-to-work capacity and suitable duties. Coach leaders through processes, overseeing complex cases, and preventing outcomes through early intervention.
- OH&S; Committee & Compliance: Lead the OHS Committee as a driver of safety culture, maintain up to date knowledge of legislation and frameworks to provide clear and insightful guidance on safety and compliance. Including preparation of reports, and engagement with regulatory bodies.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and embed effective emergency response plans across all locations,
building team readiness and regularly refining procedures through reviews and debriefs to drive continuous improvement.
- Workplace Safety & Inspections: Implement a structured inspection program across services and head office, partnering with Leaders to identify and manage risks, supporting them to maintain compliant safety communications and records, and serving as a visible, approachable safety resource for the Doable team.
Our successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience in the disability sector, and great familiarity in service, supported independent living and specialist disability accommodation.
- A deep understanding of OH&S; and risk management, with strong knowledge of legislation, WorkCover requirements and the NDIS framework
- Proven capability in leading incident investigations, managing return to work processes and overseeing safety systems and policies
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and deliver practical, actionable recommendations
- Exceptional communication, and a natural ability to instill confidence in your peers and external stakeholders through quality partnership.
- A proactive, hands on approach to delivering practical solutions, through a willingness to be visible and present amongst our frontline services.
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Nursing, Allied Health, Human Resources, Risk Management or a related discipline.
Successful applicants must hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, have completed the NDIS Worker Orientation Module and hold a Driver's License.
