BIOMAT has been awarded as A+ Research Group by the Basque Government. The main research lines of the group are:
Biorefinery processes for the extraction of biopolymers and bioactive compounds
Modification of biopolymers and optimisation of formulations
Optimisation of biopolymer manufacturing processes




Environmental assessment of biorefinery processes
Bio-based products for environmental remediation, food and health-related applications and tissue engineering.
Research environment
The successful candidate will join BIOMAT group and will have access to facilities related to the physicochemical characterization and manufacture of polymeric materials:
Extrusion and Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D printing
3D printing combined with electrospinning
Rheological analyses
Infrared and UV-vis spectroscopy
X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy
Mechanical testing (tensile, compression, mucoadhesion)
Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
