Duties
Help
• You will review, verify, and certify welding and brazing procedure qualification records (PQRs), welding procedure specifications (WPSs), and welder/brazer performance qualification records (WPQRs) in strict compliance with Navy requirements.
• You will execute repairs utilizing foreign contractors, facilities, and supply chains that are not qualified to Navy standards.
• You will interpret Navy, commercial, and shipyard specifications used to fabricate or repair naval ships and components.
• You will work with the local examiners in regional maintenance sites to ensure welding, advanced metal deposition, and subsequent Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
requirements are aligned, evaluated, and executed across regional maintenance sites.
• You will keep management informed of major issues affecting the command’s welding and additive manufacturing programs across the Fleets and provide guidance to ensure uniform application of technical and personnel policies.
• You will serve as the Command’s engineering advisor for the evaluation, qualification, and implementation of metal additive manufacturing technologies used for shipboard component repair and replacement.
