About BIOMAT

BIOMAT has been awarded as A+ Research Group by the Basque Government. The main research lines of the group are:

- Biorefinery processes for the extraction of biopolymers and bioactive compounds
- Modification of biopolymers and optimisation of formulations




- Optimisation of biopolymer manufacturing processes
- Environmental assessment of biorefinery processes
- Bio-based products for environmental remediation, food and health-related applications and tissue engineering.

Research environment The successful candidate will join BIOMAT group and will have access to facilities related to the physicochemical characterization xugodme and manufacture of polymeric materials:

- Extrusion and Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D printing
- 3D printing combined with electrospinning
- Rheological analyses
- Infrared and UV-vis spectroscopy
- X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy
- Mechanical testing (tensile, compression, mucoadhesion)
- Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
