About the role iPronics is seeking a Senior Telemetry & Observability Engineer to contribute to the development, integration, and operation of software solutions for advanced optical switching and datacentre infrastructure applications.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role at the intersection of software development, telemetry and observability, networking, systems integration, and photonics.

You will work closely with Customer Success, Applications, Product, and Engineering teams, contributing directly to customer evaluations, Proofs of Concept, integrations, and deployments.

The role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems across multiple layers of a system and translating real operational requirements into robust, scalable software and tooling.

What you will do

1. Telemetry, monitoring & observability

- Design, develop, and maintain telemetry, monitoring, reporting, and diagnostic solutions for iPronics systems.
- Build data collection, processing, and visualization tools that provide clear system and operational visibility.
- Design and implement integrations with relevant management, monitoring, and automation interfaces.
- Develop practical software tools that improve system operation, validation, diagnosis, and troubleshooting.
- Drive improvements in the quality, reliability, and usability of operational data.
- Work with Product and Engineering teams to translate operational experience into scalable improvements to software and tooling.

2. Customer solutions & technical troubleshooting

- Provide senior technical support for customer evaluations, Proofs of Concept, integrations, and deployments.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues across software, telemetry, networking, systems integration, and optical systems.
- Lead technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis in collaboration with Engineering and Applications teams.
- Support system configuration, integration, bring-up, validation, and deployment-readiness activities.
- Participate in customer-facing technical discussions, clearly communicating technical findings, risks, and recommended actions.
- Translate recurring customer and deployment challenges into reusable technical solutions.

3. Software development & engineering quality

- Design,

develop, test, and maintain robust internal and customer-facing software tools, primarily in Python.
- Develop automation that improves deployment, validation, system operation, and troubleshooting efficiency.
- Drive improvements in software quality, reliability, maintainability, and testability.
- Participate in technical reviews and contribute to sound software engineering practices.
- Create clear technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and reusable support materials.

4. Cross-functional collaboration

- Work closely with Customer Success, Applications, Product, and Engineering teams to solve multidisciplinary technical challenges.
- Provide structured technical feedback based on customer deployments and operational experience.
- Help translate customer and system requirements into practical software and integration solutions.
- Share technical knowledge and contribute to effective engineering practices across multidisciplinary projects.

What you bring

- Bachelor's, Master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Photonics, or a related technical discipline.
- Significant experience in software development, systems integration, observability, data engineering, technical customer solutions, or a related engineering role.
- Strong Python programming skills and experience developing reliable operational or data-processing software.
- Strong working knowledge of Linux-based systems, networking, and troubleshooting complex technical environments.
- Experience with telemetry, monitoring, observability, network management, or data infrastructure technologies.
- Ability to investigate problems across software, network, and system-level domains.
- Experience working directly with customers or external partners in technical evaluation, integration, deployment,

or support environments.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.

Valuable additional experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly valuable:

- Optical networking, photonic integrated circuits, programmable photonics, or datacentre networking.
- gNMI, OpenConfig, NETCONF/YANG, streaming telemetry, time-series data, or observability platforms.
- Data engineering, databases, analytics, machine learning, or AI-enabled engineering tools.
- Cloud-based or distributed software systems.
- Technical leadership, mentoring, or coordinating work across multidisciplinary teams.

What we value

- A practical, hands-on approach to solving complex technical problems.
- Strong engineering judgement and attention to software quality.
- Curiosity and the ability to work across software, networking, systems, and photonics.
- Clear communication and constructive collaboration with customers and colleagues.
- The ability to balance immediate technical needs with reliable, reusable, and scalable solutions.
- Ownership, initiative, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving technical environment.

Why this role matters

As advanced optical systems move into increasingly demanding datacentre environments, operational visibility, software integration, reliability, and ease of deployment become critical to customer success.

This role will help improve how iPronics systems expose operational information, integrate with customer environments, and enable efficient diagnosis and resolution of complex technical issues.

You will work at the intersection of software, networking, and photonics, with the opportunity to influence both the product experience and the way advanced optical technology is deployed and operated by customers.

What we offer

- Permanent full-time position
- Flexible working hours
- December 24th and 31st off
- One extra day off during your birthday month
- Private health insurance
- Life insurance
- Pension plan included
- Versátil compensation plan (restaurant tickets, transport, and childcare vouchers)
