Join CHAMP’s Cargo Management team and help shape our AI powered products, where agentic AI and RAG-powered automation solve real-world air cargo challenges. Design and deliver intelligent products, integrate AI/ML into production systems, and build scalable APIs powering industry-leading platforms like Cargospot Neo. Work with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Python, Docker, OpenShift, GitLab CI, and Agile teams to create solutions used across the general air cargo industry.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Principal Product Manager, the Software Engineer builds and helps integrate AI-based features into CHAMP products and platforms, working closely with senior engineers on architecture and design. The role combines solid software engineering fundamentals with growing hands-on experience implementing AI capabilities in production environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and ship AI-powered features: LLM-based workflows (RAG, agents, document understanding)



and predictive analytics on operational cargo data
- Contribute to architectural decisions for AI/ML integration into CHAMP products, under guidance from senior engineers, with an eye on performance, security, scalability, and maintainability
- Develop production-grade APIs and services exposing AI functionality, integrating with platforms built on Java/Spring Boot and Angular
- Work with product owners and business analysts to translate requirements into working technical solutions
- Contribute to the AI engineering foundations: evaluation, testing, monitoring, and deployment practices for AI features
- Grow your craft through code reviews, pairing, and architectural discussions with senior engineers — especially on AI/ML-specific practices (prompt engineering, model evaluation, RAG design)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Must-Haves:
- Solid proficiency in Python.
- Good software engineering fundamentals (API design, testing, version control, and writing maintainable code).
- Hands-on experience building AI/ML-powered features (ideally LLM-based like RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, agent frameworks, or vector search).
- Strong curiosity and self-direction.
- Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with MLOps or GenAI tooling (model serving, vector databases, LLM evaluation frameworks).
- Exposure to classical ML (training or deploying predictive models).
- Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines (specifically GitLab CI).
- Experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes.
- Experience with Java/Spring Boot or Angular (for surrounding platforms).
- Knowledge of coding design patterns.
- Experience with SCRUM practices.




- Interest in or knowledge of the air cargo and logistics industry.

Education & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2–4 years of professional software development experience.
- Proven experience building AI/ML features, whether in production, serious side projects, or a previous role.
