WORK & STUDY OPPORTUNITY IN BARCELONA – TOLOKA x HARBOUR.SPACE INSTITUTE

Harbour.Space Institute of Technology is excited to offer a Work & Study Scholarship in partnership with Toloka AI, for students pursuing a Master's degree in Computer or Data Science.

Through this program, selected students will join Toloka AI as Technical Consultant Apprentices, helping design and deliver AI data solutions for Toloka's customers while earning their degree at Harbour.Space's Barcelona campus.

About Toloka AI

Toloka creates the data that powers leading GenAI models. It works with frontier labs, big tech, AI startups, enterprises and non-profit research organizations worldwide, combining Experts, Crowd, and Technology Platform to teach AI models to reason and to evaluate their safety and efficacy.

Harbour.Space and Toloka are seeking experienced candidates who want to do apprenticeship at the intersection of consulting, engineering and AI, while advancing their academic careers.

Core Qualifications

- 3+ years of professional experience as a Solution Engineer, Technical Solutions Engineer, Data Scientist, Data/Systems Analyst, or in a similar technical role
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, ML/AI, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field such as Physics or Applied Mathematics
- Strong Python skills for data manipulation (NumPy, pandas), NLP (NLTK, spaCy) and lightweight web services or tools (FastAPI, Flask)
- Solid understanding of ML concepts and data workflows; familiarity with LLMs and prompt engineering
- Understanding of software development fundamentals: version control, testing, MVPs and iterative development
- Good English communication skills (B2+),



with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Ownership mindset and the ability to juggle several tasks in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

Nice to Have

- Experience with crowdsourcing, expert workflows, or large-scale data labeling
- Experience with ML training, evaluation, or agentic systems
- Familiarity with quality frameworks, audits, or data validation pipelines
- Experience working directly with customers on technical projects

What You'll Be Working On

- Supporting the team in designing end-to-end data solutions on Toloka's platform, selecting components, workflows and quality controls
- Configuring data labeling components and quality controls, and building user interfaces and AI-driven tooling (agentic systems, RAG, synthetic data generation)
- Running experiments and pilots to validate quality, throughput and cost assumptions
- Analyzing data to identify failure modes and inefficiencies, and helping optimize solutions through iteration and automation
- Taking part in customer discovery conversations and helping translate customer needs into solution designs

Apprenticeship Summary

- Tuition fee scholarship to study a full degree in Computer or Data Science at Harbour.Space
- 4-6 hours/day of apprenticeship at Toloka
- Monthly student allowance

Candidate's Commitment:

- Study Commitment: 3 hours/day. You will complete 14 modules (each three weeks long) in one year. Daily class workload is 3 hours, plus homework to complete in your own time.
- Work Commitment: 4-6 hours/day. Immerse yourself in the professional world during your apprenticeship, learn from the best, and apply your newly acquired knowledge in the field from day one.
