Role Description This full-time, on-site PhD position is based at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in the Greater Barcelona Metropolitan Area. The PhD candidate will conduct original research on diabetic retinopathy under the guidance of a supervisory team, with a particular focus on generating and analyzing translatomic profiles to identify molecular pathways and potential therapeutic targets.



The project will involve designing and conducting studies, collecting and analyzing experimental data, and integrating translatomic datasets to uncover disease-associated molecular signatures and identify candidate drugs for therapeutic repurposing or development. The candidate will review the relevant academic literature, participate in research group meetings, collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers, and disseminate findings through scientific publications and conference presentations. Day-to-day activities may include bioinformatic and molecular data analysis, validation of identified targets or drug candidates, and contributing to the development of translational strategies for diabetic retinopathy. The candidate may also support teaching activities, such as assisting in seminars or mentoring students, while progressing toward the completion of a PhD thesis within the expected timeframe.
