About Your Role The Authorised Program Officer (APO) contributes to embedding client quality and safeguarding across Scope to empower our clients to belong, thrive and live their dreams, now and into the future; sustainably. It contributes to promoting the least restrictive practices, strengthening service governance, and driving continuous improvement in behaviour support practices; upholding the rights and dignity of people with disabilities.
You will contribute your knowledge and experience to:
- Enhancing the services that are delivered to people with disabilities, with a focus on empowering, quality and safe services.
- Working collaboratively with clients, their support networks (e.g. families) and stakeholders (e.g. allied health professionals, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Victorian Senior Practitioner [VSP], NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, etc.) to support delivery of safe, quality and empowering services.
- Advocate for the rights, needs and expectations of people with disability, as they relate to utilisation and governance of restrictive practices and positive behaviour support
In the role of Authorised Program Officer, you will contribute your expertise to:
- Engage with and listen to clients, their support networks (e.g. families) and relevant stakeholders (e.g. frontline leaders, allied health professionals, behaviour support practitioners, VSP, etc.) to understand client needs,
expectations and experiences to contribute to delivery of safe and quality client services that ethically manage complex behaviours; with emphasis on positive behaviour support and minimising restrictive practices. Collaborating to build service delivery capability across CIRC and more broadly across Scope.
- Apply relevant legal, regulatory, risk management and practice requirements to assess, approve, monitor and report on restrictive practices (including behaviour support plans) and/or oversee and report on Supervised Treatment Orders (including development of treatment plans); ensuring that they necessary consents have been obtained and documented.
- Responsible for assessing the necessity and appropriateness of restrictive practices and developing the treatment plan that forms part of the STO; ensuring that the treatment plan aligns with legal and ethical standards and includes the necessary consents. Undertake relevant governance and reporting in alignment with relevant legal, regulatory and policy obligations.
- Thoroughly maintain documentation; taking responsibility in ensuring that it is compliant with relevant legal, regulatory and policy obligations
Your experience shall align with
- Interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies and practices to deliver and/or improve client services (or similar).
- Demonstrated prior experience with knowledge of Regulated Restrictive Practices including related ethical and legal issues.
- Training others in systems, policies and/or practices to deliver and/or improve client services (or similar).
- Understanding of human rights, the administration of restrictive practices, positive behaviour support,
trauma-informed care and person-centred active support..
