Position Summary The DC Engineer Greenfield supports the technical development and engineering follow-up of new-build data center projects within IREN’s Technical & Design Department in Spain. The role contributes to the coordination, review, and consolidation of technical information during early-stage and pre-construction phases, helping ensure that greenfield projects are developed in accordance with site conditions, project requirements, operational needs, quality standards, and IREN’s high-performance compute infrastructure objectives.
Working within the Technical & Design Department and reporting to the DC Engineering Lead, the DC Engineer Greenfield provides technical support in the review of design documentation, site constraints, engineering interfaces, technical deliverables, and development assumptions, helping maintain alignment between greenfield design decisions, permitting requirements, construction readiness, and future operational performance expectations.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the DC Engineering Lead, the DC Engineer Greenfield is responsible for:
- Support the technical review of greenfield data center projects, checking design documentation, specifications, drawings, reports, and technical deliverables against site requirements, project scope, and operational needs.
- Prepare and review preliminary data center test-fit layouts before project initiation, assessing the proposed distribution of technical spaces, equipment, circulation areas, and key infrastructure to confirm alignment with site constraints, capacity requirements, and operational needs.
- Coordinate engineering inputs with internal technical disciplines, including MEP, electrical infrastructure, cooling, BIM, CSA, quality, commissioning, operations,
and development teams, to help identify interfaces, constraints, and information gaps.
- Prepare and maintain technical trackers, design review comments, action logs, document registers, and follow-up reports to provide visibility of open points, decisions, assumptions, and pending information.
- Support the assessment of site conditions, plot constraints, utility interfaces, permitting inputs, technical dependencies, and readiness milestones, helping align design development with construction planning and future operational performance.
- Assist in the coordination of external consultants, designers, contractors, and suppliers by consolidating technical inputs, following up on requests for information, and supporting the resolution of engineering queries during the development and pre-construction stages.
- Contribute to technical meetings by preparing documentation, capturing actions, monitoring progress, and escalating relevant technical risks, deviations, or blockers to the appropriate responsible parties.
- Support the consistent use of engineering standards, documentation practices, design review processes, and technical coordination routines, contributing to a scalable approach for IREN’s greenfield projects in Spain.

- Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Building Services,
or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in data center engineering, technical design coordination, project engineering, industrial facilities, mission-critical infrastructure, construction design, or greenfield development environments.
- Good understanding of data center environments and multidisciplinary technical interfaces, including MEP systems, electrical infrastructure, cooling, civil works, site constraints, utility connections, construction readiness, and commissioning requirements.
- Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, design documentation, comments, trackers, and project information in a structured and detail-oriented manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; experience with BIM platforms, document management systems, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or technical coordination tools will be positively valued.
- Strong coordination, analytical, communication, and problem-follow-up skills, with the ability to work across technical disciplines and external stakeholders.
- Fluent Spanish and professional English are required; experience in international, high-growth, or mission-critical infrastructure environments will be positively valued.
