We are Adevinta, a leading online classifieds group and champion for sustainable commerce across Europe and beyond. With digital marketplaces across many countries, our portfolio spans consumer goods, mobility, real estate, holiday rentals and jobs. Together, our marketplaces attract more than 120 million users every month and over a million businesses.
Our locally loved marketplaces, including Marktplaats in the Netherlands, mobile.de in Germany, Kleinanzeigen in Germany and Spain, leboncoin in France and Subito in Italy, help everything and everyone find a new purpose by creating perfect matches – whether it’s a car, an apartment, a sofa or a new job.
Our brands are supported by integral Hubs in Barcelona and Amsterdam.
Regarding this opportunity Our Platform Engineers are building and enhancing the shared Agentic platform for our marketplaces. You bring that platform into everyday product development: working alongside teams, shipping roadmap improvements, and making it easier for others to do the same.
During each engagement, you join one marketplace team for several weeks. You learn their product, understand their priorities, and pick up meaningful work from their backlog. You use the Agentic platform to deliver that work, discovering where it helps and where it needs to improve.
Alongside delivery, you help teammates get started, pair on real tasks, share useful approaches, and contribute improvements to the platform itself. Your feedback comes from the practical experience of getting work into production.
This is a role for a product engineer with a strong interest in agentic development, curiosity about what is possible, and the willingness to roll up their sleeves.
Job Requirements Who you are
- You’re a mid-level product engineer who has shipped software that real users rely on. You can take a well-scoped task through to production, working with teammates and asking for support when needed.
- You have a strong passion for agentic product development. You actively experiment with agents and tools, and can explain what you tried, what worked, and what you learned.
- You care about the product outcome. You want to understand the user problem and how your contribution supports the team’s roadmap.
- You bring sound engineering fundamentals: readable code, testing, debugging, code review, and attention to reliability.
- You examine agent output critically and take responsibility for the software you ship.
- You enjoy working alongside others, sharing discoveries, and helping a teammate get past a practical obstacle.
- You’re comfortable learning an unfamiliar codebase and adapting to a team’s working practices.
- When you encounter friction, you investigate it and help implement a solution.
Job Responsibilities What you'll do Deliver from the marketplace roadmap Work with the embedded team to select a meaningful, achievable piece of backlog work. Understand the user problem, contribute to the solution, and take your work through implementation, testing, review, and release. Use the Agentic platform throughout delivery where it helps. Apply the same engineering judgement and quality standards to agent-generated work as you would to any other contribution.
Help teams adopt through practical experience Make it easier for teammates to use the platform in their own work. Pair on tasks, demonstrate useful workflows, help with setup, and work through obstacles together.
Leave behind working examples and clear guidance that fit the team’s codebase and development practices. The aim is for the team to continue independently after your engagement.
Turn delivery friction into platform improvements Capture what happens in practice: missing integrations, awkward workflows, unreliable behaviour, gaps in evaluation, or unnecessary manual steps.
Investigate the causes and contribute practical fixes. These could include tooling, integrations, reusable workflows, templates, evaluations, or documentation. Work with the Platform Engineers to review and test changes and make useful improvements available to other teams.
Connect marketplace experience to platform development Bring concrete evidence into platform discussions: what the team was trying to achieve, where it got stuck, what you tried, and what changed after a fix.
Help distinguish a local requirement from a shared need. For larger improvements, provide reproducible examples and a clear account of the impact so the Platform Engineers can prioritise effectively.
Leave the team ready to continue Build the handover into the engagement. Share knowledge as you work, involve teammates in the approaches you develop, and agree ownership of anything that needs continued attention.
Job Benefits Why join You’ll work on real marketplace products while helping shape how teams develop software with agents. You’ll gain experience across teams and codebases, see the impact of your contributions, and help turn local discoveries into capabilities other marketplaces can use.
How to apply Send a short note (no need for a cover letter) telling us:
- About a product improvement you helped ship and why it mattered to users.
- How you’ve used agents in development, including something that fell short and how you handled it.
- About a tool or workflow you improved after encountering friction yourself.
- One thing in this job spec you'd push back on.
