World Class Design is partnering with a stealth-mode venture-backed agritech startup redefining cocoa and coffee supply chains for the benefit of farmers, manufacturers and the planet.

For decades, agricultural commodity supply chains have struggled with fragmentation, limited transparency and poor outcomes for smallholder farmers. This company believes the future of agricultural sourcing is direct, transparent and regenerative.

They build the digital infrastructure that makes this possible: mobile and web products that help farmer cooperatives manage their operations, collect and verify data, demonstrate compliance, and connect directly with integral buyers. Their technology is already used by cooperatives and companies across Africa and Latin America, supporting more than 150,000 farmers. Backed by leading food and agriculture investors, they're building a small, ambitious team to become the technology and operational infrastructure behind the next generation of agricultural supply chains.

The RoleThey're looking for a Founding Design Engineer to own their product in Latin America, starting with Peru. This is an outcome-driven role. They don't draw hard boundaries between product, design and engineering - you'll use whatever tools are necessary to solve the problem and make the product successful.

You'll operate more like a founder for your product area: understanding customers, identifying problems, deciding what to build, designing solutions, shipping them and making sure they actually get used. You'll work directly with cooperatives and other partners in Peru to understand how they operate, translate their needs into product priorities, and own the roadmap from idea through adoption. As they grow, you'll have the opportunity to expand that ownership into new markets such as Ecuador and beyond.

You'll design and build across both their native Android application and web products, owning the experience across the platforms used by cooperatives, field teams and other partners.

You'll also be an individual contributor. They expect you to design and ship production code yourself, using modern AI development tools to move from idea to working product quickly. You don't need to be a full-stack engineer: when a problem requires deeper backend, infrastructure or technical work, you'll work closely with their engineering team.

Responsibilities

- Own the product roadmap for Peru - understand customer and user problems, identify opportunities, set priorities and decide what should be built
- Design across web and Android - turn complex operational, data and compliance workflows into intuitive experiences across their web platform and native Android application




- Build and ship across platforms - prototype and implement production-quality features yourself across web and Android, using AI-native development tools to move quickly from idea to working product
- Work directly with customers and users - spend time with cooperatives and field teams, gather feedback, support accounts and turn what you learn into better products
- Drive adoption and growth - understand why users adopt or don't adopt features, experiment with ways to increase engagement, and help make the product successful in Peru
- Own the full product loop - from research and prioritisation through design, implementation, rollout, support, measurement and iteration
- Collaborate with engineering - work with their engineers on backend, infrastructure and technically complex problems while retaining ownership of the overall product experience
- Build for scale - create reusable components and patterns that allow what works in Peru to expand efficiently into other Latin American markets
- Work AI-natively - use tools such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor to explore, prototype, build, test and ship faster
- Spend time in the field - travel regularly to Peru and potentially other markets to work directly with the people using what you build

RequirementsAbove all, they're looking for a builder with a founder's mindset. You're comfortable being given an outcome rather than a specification and figuring out what needs to happen to achieve it. You combine strong product and design judgment with enough technical ability to turn your ideas into working software. You care about whether the product succeeds after it ships-not just whether the interface looks good.
- Strong experience designing and building digital products end-to-end, ideally in an early-stage startup or similarly high-ownership environment
- Founder, founding-team or early-stage startup experience where you've had to operate beyond a narrowly defined role
- Excellent product judgment: you can talk to customers, identify the underlying problem, prioritize competing needs and translate ambiguity into a clear product direction
- A strong portfolio of shipped products, particularly complex workflows, B2B software, data-rich products or operational tools
- Strong product design and UX skills, with a high bar for craft and usability
- Hands-on experience building and shipping both web and mobile applications,



including Android applications - you should be comfortable working directly in a production mobile codebase, not only designing mobile experiences
- Strong front-end fundamentals across modern web technologies such as TypeScript and React, alongside experience with Android development
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or equivalent as a core part of how you build
- Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple customers, priorities and workstreams independently
- Fluent English and Spanish
- Willingness to travel regularly to Peru and potentially elsewhere in Latin America

They care more about what you've built and owned than a specific number of years of experience or a particular career path. This role is not for everyone. They are looking for people who are driven by ownership and having an impact, and doing whatever is necessary to get there.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- French language skills
- Experience in emerging markets, agriculture, sustainability, supply chains or compliance
- Experience building products for low-connectivity environments
- Experience working directly with operational or field teams
- Understanding of APIs and data models
- Experience deploying applications using tools such as Vercel and Supabase
