STARTING DECEMBER in Gibraltar, we are looking for a qualified and experienced Yacht Chef to join a professional crew of four aboard a world-cruising Oyster 885. This is an exciting opportunity for a capable, adaptable chef to support an ambitious transatlantic and Pacific cruising programme while delivering consistently high standards of food and service.
The yacht will be crossing the Atlantic in January, sailing directly for the Panama Canal before continuing into the Pacific for an extended programme of remote and adventurous cruising.
Having already completed one circumnavigation, the owners are keen to spend more time exploring the Pacific before exploring new destinations of Indonesia and possibly Japan. They will join the yacht periodically throughout the voyage and expect a polished, professional level of service whenever they are on board.
The position would suit a friendly,
proactive and highly organised chef with a genuine passion for food and the practical mindset required for long-range sailing. Candidates should have an established professional or
restaurant-based chef background, ideally combined with at least two seasons of experience as a chef aboard sailing yachts. The successful candidate will be easy-going, honest and dependable, work well as part of a close-knit crew, and
be comfortable sharing a bunk cabin with a female crewmember. Strong, verifiable references are essential.
