Job opening: Protein Production and Development Scientist

Nanoligent is a biotech company, spin-off of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Institut de Recerca de l’Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau. We are dedicated to drug design and development of targeted-therapeutic biologics. (www.nanoligent.com)

We are looking for:

A research scientist in the field of protein engineering and production

Tasks

- Carry out protein engineering and recombinant production, mainly in Escherichia coli.
- Develop and optimize protein purification processes using chromatography (IMAC, IEX, HIC, SEC, others).
- Run and optimize protein–drug conjugation with different payloads and small molecules.
- Characterize Nanoligent candidates analytically, both in-house and with external providers
- Data analysis and interpretation of results as required.
- Write reports and prepare presentation of the results and research conclusions.
- Participate in company’s scientific meetings.

Requirements:

- PhD in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or a related field.
- Extensive hands-on experience in molecular cloning and recombinant protein production,



with proven expertise in Escherichia coli.
- Demonstrated experience developing and optimizing chromatographic purification processes (IMAC, IEX, HIC).
- Strong background in analytical characterization of proteins and protein–drug conjugates (SDS-PAGE, Western blot, DLS, and others) in support of pharmaceutical development will be a plus.
- Fluent in Spanish and English, both spoken and written.
- Highly motivated, well organized and detail-oriented.
- Problem-solving mindset and used to performing in deadline driven environment.
