Role Description
This contract Mechanical Design Engineer role will be based at ICE-CSIC in UAB Campus, Cerdanyola del Vallès in a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site collaboration with some work-from-home flexibility. The engineer will design and develop a mechanical filter wheel for a multispectral dual camera developed for missions to explore asteroids Moon, and Mars. Daily tasks include creating and updating CAD models and drawings,



performing basic mechanical calculations, and preparing documentation for prototypes and experimental equipment. The role involves working closely with researchers and technical staff to understand functional requirements, iterating designs based on test feedback, and ensuring that solutions are safe, reliable, and aligned with MERCAM project goals.

In summary: we are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer (Industrial, Aerospace, or related discipline) to join our team to develop an advanced opto-mechanical system.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, validate and integrate a multispectral filter wheel into a camera for future space missions.

• Coordinate with key technical stakeholders (optics, electronics, thermal, systems) to ensure integrated system performance.

• Prepare technical documentation, test procedures, and verification reports in line with ESA and industry standards.
