KPMG in Caricom is seeking to hire a dynamic, results-oriented and highly motivated Tax Senior Manager.The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong commercial awareness, professional judgment, leadership capability, and the ability to manage multiple complex engagements and competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and client service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and oversee the delivery of tax compliance and advisory services to a portfolio of clients across multiple industries.
- Provide strategic tax advice with an emphasis on the interpretation and application of local, regional, and international tax laws and regulations.
- Manage complex tax engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring deliverables are accurate, timely, and aligned with agreed client expectations.
- Develop, manage, and maintain strong relationships with the Inland Revenue Department and other relevant fiscal and regulatory authorities.
- Represent and liaise with the Board of Inland Revenue and other tax authorities on behalf of clients regarding tax assessments, objections, audits, clearances, compliance matters, and other tax-related issues.
- Advise corporations establishing or expanding operations in new jurisdictions and assist in assessing applicable tax obligations and compliance requirements.
- Assess the tax implications of proposed transactions and business activities and develop practical, commercially viable tax solutions.
- Review, interpret, and provide guidance on new and existing tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Review and validate the tax treatment of complex transactions and provide clear technical conclusions and recommendations.
- Monitor developments in tax legislation, regulations, and government policies and assess their potential impact on clients and the Tax practice.
- Prepare and deliver tax updates relating to annual budgets, Finance Acts, legislative changes, and other significant developments.
- Develop logical and technically sound tax positions and arguments to support client recommendations and conclusions.
- Assist Partners and Directors in researching, developing, and implementing tax planning strategies and solutions for clients.
- Provide technical support and guidance to engagement teams on complex tax matters.
- Provide assistance to Audit teams in reviewing tax calculations, tax provisions, deferred tax, and tax-related financial statement matters.
- Review and provide oversight of tax computations, returns, advisory reports, technical memoranda, and other client deliverables.
- Ensure engagement files meet KPMG quality, risk management, documentation, and professional standards.
- Monitor engagement budgets, timelines, work-in-progress (WIP), billing, and collection activities and take appropriate action where required.
- Identify and communicate potential engagement risks, technical issues, and opportunities to Partners and Directors.
- Lead, supervise, coach, and develop Managers, Seniors, and Associates within the Tax team.
- Review work performed by engagement team members and provide timely, constructive, and technically appropriate feedback.
- Support performance management, career development, succession planning, and capability building within the Tax practice.
- Develop and deliver internal and external tax training, technical sessions, seminars, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to existing and prospective clients on tax matters, legislative developments, and KPMG tax solutions.
- Participate actively in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client pitches, networking, seminars, and relationship-building initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of tax newsletters, publications, technical updates, and other thought leadership materials.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and introduce additional KPMG services where appropriate.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Tax, Audit, Advisory, and other KPMG member firms to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, methodologies, and service delivery within the Tax practice.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, integrity, and attention to detail in the execution of all responsibilities.
- Perform all duties in accordance with KPMG policies, professional standards, risk management requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, Taxation, or a related field.
- Legal qualification such as LLB, JD, or equivalent.
- Professional accounting or tax qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent is an asset.
- Minimum six to twelve (6–12)
years of relevant experience in Tax, with significant experience in tax compliance and advisory services.
- Minimum eight (8) years of relevant experience within an audit, tax, accounting, or professional services environment.
- Minimum five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex tax engagements and delivering high-quality client solutions.
- Experience working within a professional services environment is required.
- Prior experience within a Big 4 or international professional services firm is preferred.
