We offer a fully funded 48-month PhD position funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 & FSE+ linked to the project PID2025-171985NB-I00. See conditions in the call “ Proyectos de Generación de Conocimiento 2025 ” ( https://www.aei.gob.es/convocatorias/buscador-convocatorias/proyectos-g… ).

The position is associated with the project METASOILs “Community metaphylogeography of European soil fauna: integrating Quaternary legacies, ecological traits and anthropogenic change to uncover hidden soil biodiversity.” The project investigates how Quaternary history, ecological specialisation, habitat structure and human-mediated species introductions shape the genetic and community-level diversity of soil mesofauna across a European latitudinal gradient. It combines whole-organism community DNA metabarcoding, haplotype-level analyses, phylogeography, community ecology and large-scale spatial modelling.
