We place them at the heart of what we do, providing challenging opportunities to develop within a great team in a supportive environment that allows them to reach their full potential.Scope of the Role:The Social Value Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the project Social Value strategy and commitments throughout the project lifecycle. The role will serve as Mercury's primary representative for community engagement and stakeholder management, ensuring strong relationships are built with local authorities, government representatives, educational institutions, local suppliers, community groups, clients, and project stakeholders. The successful candidate will support the delivery of measurable social, economic, and environmental benefits while ensuring compliance with client requirements, local regulations, and corporate sustainability objectives.Key Responsibilities of the Role:Social Value Delivery:Implement and monitor Social Value plans aligned with TOMs, PPN06/20, local Spanish regulations, and client-specific requirements.Track and report KPIs including local employment, apprenticeships, MSME and VCSE engagement, MOB spend, volunteering, diversity,
and other agreed metrics.Prepare Social Value reports for clients, stakeholders, and internal leadership teams.Upload and submit monthly Social Value outcomes to both Mercury and client reporting platforms.Monitor and report on project Social Value commitments and ensure delivery against agreed targets.Support employment, skills development, apprenticeship, and educational outreach initiatives.Community Engagement & Stakeholder ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with local and central authorities, Client Social Value Leads, and Social Value Committees.Develop and maintain relationships with mayors, municipal representatives, regional government bodies, chambers of commerce, universities, schools, charities, and community organisations.Organise Social Value meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement events.Organise and coordinate community events, site visits, open days, educational programmes, careers events, and volunteering initiatives.Act as the primary point of contact for community queries and concerns relating to project activities.Resolve and escalation community complaints in a timely manner (within agreed response timelines).Maintain and communicate the monthly Community Engagement Tracker to Project Management teams and the Group Sustainability Lead.Represent Mercury at public meetings, industry forums, university events,
and local authority engagements.Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders to support project success and community acceptance.Supply Chain & Procurement SupportCommunicate procurement-related Social Value KPIs and client or regulatory requirements to project teams.Identify local vendors and suppliers for Mercury direct purchases.Promote local and diverse supplier sourcing in collaboration with Procurement.Support subcontractors in understanding and meeting Social Value obligations.Maintain records and provide reporting on supply chain Social Value KPIs.Support local workforce development and local economic growth initiatives.Reporting & ComplianceMaintain accurate records of all Social Value activities and outcomes.Support future tender responses and bid submissions relating to Social Value requirements.Ensure alignment with client expectations, Mercury corporate values, and relevant Social Value frameworks.Produce monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports as required by clients and Mercury leadership.Undertake any additional duties reasonably associated with the role and evolving business requirements.Essential Criteria for the Role:Native Spanish speaker.Fluent in English, both written and verbal.Experience in Social Value, Community Engagement, Sustainability, Public Affairs, Corporate Social Responsibility, or Stakeholder Management.Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.Strong reporting and organisational capabilities.Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders.Confident managing difficult conversations and sensitive stakeholder engagements.Experience dealing with government officials, mayors, client representatives, universities, and community leaders.Strong negotiation, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.High emotional intelligence and professional judgement.Able to represent Mercury professionally in public-facing and executive-level meetings.Strong networking and partnership-building capabilities.Ability to promote Mercury's values, reputation, and long-term commitment to the local community.Mercury is an equal opportunities employer.
