FUNCTIONS:

PhD research in the field of embryonic development and cardiovascular system regeneration, within the framework of the Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu Centers of Excellence 2025 Project, carrying out the following activities:

- Designing and implementing the research work plan leading to the preparation and defense of the doctoral thesis.
- Conducting literature reviews and assessing the state of the art in the field.
- Writing scientific publications and presenting research findings at conferences and seminars.
- Engaging in continuous training and participating in courses, seminars, and other educational activities.

The contracts are funded through the grant CEX2025-001658-S funded by MICIU/AEI

and correspond to the actions aimed at the training of predoctoral research personnel PREX2025- 000344 and PREX2025 000343

Specific Requirements

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: * Hold a Bachelor's degree (300 ECTS credits or more), or a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree, granting access to a doctoral programme, in disciplines related to the life sciences (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, etc.).

- Be admitted to a doctoral programme at the time the employment contract is formalized.
- Not have exhausted the maximum number of years of employment permitted under the same predoctoral status, in accordance with artículo 21 de la Ley de la Ciencia.

Not already hold a PhD degree awarded by any Spanish or foreign university.

Requirements related to the candidate's academic and/or scientific-technical track record.

- C1. Scientific and technical contributions. The candidate's academic record will be assessed (30%), along with other curricular merits such as awards and distinctions (5%),



as well as the relevance of these achievements to the duties of the position, considering the candidate's academic background and professional experience (10%). Candidates must submit an official academic transcript as part of their application.
- C2. Mobility and internationalization. The assessment will consider the relevance and impact of the candidate's research stays at national and international institutions and/or within the industrial sector. Particular attention will be paid to the prestige of the host institution and the activities carried out during the stay.

Requirements concerning the candidate's suitability for the research activities to be carried out, based on their previous education and experience (the added value of the position for their research career, and the potential value to the host research team).
- C3. Research experience in Life Sciences, Biomedicine, or Medicine
- C4. Contributions to scientific publications, conference communications and patents in the fields of Life Sciences, Biomedicine, or Medicine
- C5. Demonstrable proficiency in English, certified by an official qualification at B2 level or higher

Positive action: a correction index of 1.5 is established for each year of experience in the evaluation of the number of years in those criteria where experience is evaluated, in the event that the disable person greater than 66% and 1.2 in the event that the disable person greater than 30%.

Selection process

RECRUITMENT PLAN:

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, set forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (concurso), the competition (concurso-oposición) must be the recruitment system”

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-base recruitment system (concurso) including a personal interview.

At least the 6 candidates with the highest score, as long as they reach the minimum of 65 points as a sum of criteria (C1-C5) will be interviewed. The two candidates with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1-C6) is higher than 80 points.
