Role Description This full-time Cook role is an on-site position based in Barcelona. The Cook prepares and cooks menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistent taste, presentation, and portion control. Daily responsibilities include organizing and setting up the kitchen station, handling food preparation (chopping, marinating, measuring ingredients), and operating kitchen equipment safely.
The Cook monitors stock levels, assists with ordering and receiving supplies, and follows food safety and hygiene regulations at all times. The role also involves collaborating with the kitchen team, supporting service during busy periods, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, and assisting with menu updates or specials as needed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in professional cooking, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment,
manage time well, and handle multiple tasks during peak hours.
- Collaborative mindset with strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with chefs, servers, and other staff.
- Attention to detail in taste, presentation, and portion control, with a commitment to consistent quality.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required in a full-time on-site role.
- Basic understanding of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance, with a focus on safety.
- Relevant culinary training or certification is an advantage; prior experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is highly beneficial.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and bending.
- Comfort working in Barcelona, with local language skills (such as Spanish or Catalan) considered an asset.
