About the role
Let's get into the specifics. It’s impossible to capture every nuance of a role – especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews – but if we had to distil it into a job description (which we do because this is a job description), it would be this:
As a Product Builder in the Acquiring domain, you'll take end-to-end ownership of initiatives:
framing the problem in a short design document, prototyping a solution, demoing to peers and stakeholders, shipping to production, and staying close enough to see whether it actually helped.
The surface area is broad: payment acceptance (authorization, capture, refunds, disputes), the payment-facilitator layer (sub-merchant data, identifiers, card scheme compliance), acceptance expansion across markets, and reporting into our ledger.
You'll work in a small domain team with no management layer in between. The tribe's Product Manager and Staff Engineer help with direction where relevant, but you won't be waiting for it. You'll set scope, run experiments, make calls, and run what you build.
Hospitality payments are at an inflection point. Hotels want payments that are embedded, transparent, and cheaper to run, and the gap between what exists and what's possible is real. Product Builders in Fintech close that gap.
