Plants Infrastructure – Systems & Server Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced L2 Systems & Server Engineer to join the Plants Infrastructure team and provide operational and technical support for server and systems infrastructure across our industrial/plant environments.

The role will focus primarily on Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, infrastructure services, and systems administration, ensuring that plant systems remain available, secure, and performant. The successful candidate will work closely with L1 support, L3 infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, application teams, vendors, and local plant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide L2 technical support for plant server and systems infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to Windows/Linux servers, virtual machines, operating systems, and infrastructure services.
- Monitor server availability, performance, capacity, and system health.
- Perform system administration activities including configuration, maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Support virtualization platforms and the underlying infrastructure.
- Manage and troubleshoot core infrastructure services such as:

*Active Directory

*DNS/DHCP

*File and print services

*Authentication and access services

*System monitoring

*Backup and recovery

- Support server provisioning, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning activities.
- Investigate recurring incidents and contribute to problem management and root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with L3 infrastructure teams and vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
- Participate in infrastructure changes, maintenance windows, and deployment activities.
- Follow ITIL-based processes for incident, problem, change, and request management.
- Maintain accurate system documentation, inventories, procedures,



and technical records.
- Support infrastructure-related projects and ensure solutions comply with corporate standards.
- Contribute to the standardization, automation, security, and continuous improvement of plant systems infrastructure.
- Ensure systems are operated in accordance with applicable security, backup, availability, and compliance requirements.

Required Experience & Skills

- 3 years of experience in systems administration or server infrastructure support.
- Strong experience with Windows Server environments.
- Good working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and authentication services.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with server monitoring, patch management, backup, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and the relationship between server and network infrastructure.
- Experience working within structured ITSM/ITIL processes.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to investigate incidents systematically and drive them through to resolution.
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams and external vendors.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while appropriately escalating complex issues to L3 or specialist teams.

Desirable

- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or plant environments.
- Knowledge of IT/OT environments and industrial infrastructure.
- Experience with VMware, Microsoft technologies, or equivalent enterprise platforms.
- Familiarity with backup technologies and disaster recovery processes.
- Experience with PowerShell or other scripting/automation technologies.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity controls relevant to server infrastructure.
- Relevant Microsoft, VMware, Linux, or other infrastructure certifications.
