Position Summary
The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for implementing and continuously improving health and safety requirements across IREN’s data-centre design and construction activities in Spain. The role integrates health and safety considerations into project planning, design reviews, procurement, construction execution, testing and commissioning, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, IREN standards, and project-specific requirements.
Working within the Design & Construction department and reporting to the Director of Design & Construction, the role coordinates with engineering, project management, environmental and social, commissioning, contractors, and site teams to identify and control risk, verify compliance, monitor performance, and promote consistent safe working practices throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Design & Construction Director, the Health and Safety Manager is responsible for:
• Implement and maintain the health and safety management approach for IREN’s data-centre design and construction projects,
translating legal, corporate, and project requirements into practical procedures, controls, and site expectations.
• Integrate health and safety requirements into design development, technical reviews, constructability assessments, procurement, and project planning by identifying hazards early and coordinating proportionate preventive measures with engineering and project stakeholders.
• Coordinate contractor and subcontractor health and safety activities by reviewing plans and risk documentation, supporting prequalification and onboarding, clarifying IREN expectations, and verifying compliance throughout construction delivery.
• Conduct and coordinate site inspections, audits, risk reviews, and assurance activities across active projects, recording findings, agreeing corrective actions, and following up with accountable parties until effective closure.
