The Role
We are looking for a Commercial Risk Analyst to join our Risk team in Madrid, working closely with the Head of Risk to ensure Sonnedix captures full market value from our renewable asset portfolio. This role sits at the heart of how the business understands and manages its exposure to energy markets, combining asset-level forecasting with our contract book to identify where the portfolio is long or short, and building the risk metrics that support hedging, commercial and investment decisions.
You will play a key role in analysing merchant market dynamics, short- and medium-term price movements, intraday risk, baseload profiles and pay-as-produced arrangements, and translating that analysis into quantitative models that stress-test portfolio performance under different scenarios. The role also acts as an important link between Development, Energy Management, Finance and Investment teams, helping ensure commercial decisions are grounded in clear, well-communicated risk analysis.
This is a hands-on analytical role with real influence,
adecuado for someone who enjoys working close to the data, building quantitative tools from scratch, and applying commercial judgement in a fast-moving, international business.
Desirable skills:
• Energy Market Experience Strong understanding of electricity markets, with experience in a utility, independent power producer or energy-trading company, and familiarity with merchant energy, short- and medium-term markets, and market volatility
• Quantitative Modelling & Python Demonstrable, hands-on experience using Python for quantitative analysis, with the ability to build and apply models that assess asset availability, volume uncertainty, and stressed portfolio performance
• Portfolio Risk Analysis Confidence developing risk metrics such as cash-flow-at-risk (CFaR) and value-at-risk (VaR), and assessing how contracts and new investments affect the portfolio's hedging position and overall exposure
• International Market Exposure
