Role Description The Researcher PhD Student will work full time on-site at CSIC facilities in Tres Cantos, contributing to ongoing research projects in physics and materials science. Day-to-day activities include designing and performing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting results in laboratory notebooks and reports. The role involves collaborating with senior researchers, attending group meetings, and contributing to publications and conference presentations.
The PhD student will support the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and follow safety and quality protocols. Additional responsibilities may include assisting in the supervision of junior students, preparing research proposals, and participating in scientific outreach as required.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Physics, with the ability to apply theoretical concepts to experimental research.
- Proficiency in Materials Science, including characterization techniques and understanding of material properties.
- Demonstrated Research experience, including experimental design, data collection, and scientific reporting.
- Solid Analytical Skills for quantitative analysis, problem-solving, and interpretation of complex datasets.
- Hands-on Laboratory Skills, including safe operation of scientific instruments and adherence to lab protocols.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline, and eligibility to enroll in a PhD program.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly in written and spoken English; Spanish proficiency is an asset.
- Motivation to contribute to high-impact research, strong organizational skills, and willingness to learn new methods and tools.
