We Are Looking For A professional responsible for the day-to-day operation of the composite manufacturing workshop and testing laboratory, providing support to both R&D; projects and industrial development activities for customers. The selected candidate will participate in the manufacturing of demonstrators, process validation, test preparation, and the operational maintenance of the facilities.
Main Responsibilities
- Manufacturing composite parts and demonstrators using wet manufacturing processes, especially thermoset resin infusion.
- Providing technical support to R&D; projects through the execution of material and process tests.
- Supporting industrial projects by carrying out manufacturing, inspection, and quality control activities.
- Preparing materials, consumables, and tooling required for workshop activities.
- Participating in the implementation and validation of new equipment and production processes.
- Managing inventories of materials and consumables.
- Maintaining and organizing the workshop and laboratory.
- Performing basic waste management and chemical storage activities in accordance with internal procedures.
- Preparing manufacturing records, test reports, and basic technical documentation.
Essential Requirements
Composite Manufacturing
- Demonstrable experience with resin infusion processes.
- Experience working with different resin chemistries and reinforcement systems.
- Ability to independently define and execute wet manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of auxiliary materials used in infusion and lamination processes.
- Ability to evaluate and provide technical feedback on new materials and processes.
Workshop Operations
- Basic metrology and dimensional inspection.
- Manufacturing of simple tooling for development and prototyping activities.
- Performing basic repairs on composite parts: structural bonding, insert installation, assembly of fasteners and hardware.
- Manual machining operations: cutting, drilling, trimming, fitting and finishing.
- Final quality inspection before delivery.
Management and Safety
- Operational management of the workshop and laboratory.
- Inventory control and procurement requirements management.
- Knowledge of the safe storage of chemical substances.
- Basic industrial waste management.
- Awareness of and commitment to safety and facility maintenance.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with other composite manufacturing processes: RTM, SMC/BMC, pultrusion, filament winding, PCM.
- Experience with prepreg materials.
- Knowledge of structural adhesives.
- 3-axis CNC programming and operation (CAM).
- Design and manufacture of moulds using additive manufacturing technologies.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DfM).
- Basic CAD knowledge.
