Laboratorios Phergal is a Spanish beauty, dermocosmetics and personal care group with a portfolio of proprietary brands and an international presence across more than 40 countries. From its headquarters in the Madrid area, Phergal develops and manages brands across pharmacy, retail, e-commerce, marketplaces and international distribution channels.
The Role
We are looking for an Export Manager to take ownership of our business in Greater China. Based at Phergal's headquarters in Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid, this position acts as the main commercial link between Phergal and local customers, distributors and business partners.
The role is comparable to an international Key Account Manager with a strong business development component: managing existing accounts and sales performance, coordinating with headquarters, identifying new growth opportunities and developing new customers and channels. This is not an order-processing role; it requires commercial ownership, market understanding and the ability to drive business across functions.
Key Responsibilities
· Key account ownership. Serve as the primary business contact for customers, distributors and partners Greater China, building long-term relationships and ensuring effective day-to-day business management.
· Sales planning and performance. Agree annual purchasing and sales objectives with partners and follow performance monthly and quarterly, including orders, sell-in / sell-out, inventory, forecasts, key SKU performance and market feedback.
· Business reviews. Lead regular customer reviews and use commercial data to recommend replenishment, assortment changes, promotional actions, new product introductions, SKU prioritisation or rationalisation.
· Business development. Proactively identify and develop new B2B customers, distributors, retailers, channels and strategic partners, from prospecting and qualification through first contact, samples, proposals, commercial negotiation and launch.
· Marketing and brand activation. Work with local partners on annual marketing plans covering product launches, key product campaigns, promotions, e-commerce, social media, KOL/KOC activity, retail activation and brand visibility.
· HQ coordination. Coordinate internally with Brand, Marketing, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance,
Production and other teams to ensure customer and market requirements are translated into clear actions and delivered effectively.
· Product and market feedback. Share new products, upgrades and innovation plans with customers, while collecting local feedback on formulas, formats, packaging, price positioning, claims and consumer needs for discussion with Brand and R&D; teams.
· Market intelligence. Monitor consumer trends, price segments, competitors, key channels, promotions, new launches and regulatory developments, translating local market insights into actionable recommendations for headquarters.
· Commercial and order management. Oversee the commercial side of the order-to-delivery process, including products, quantities, pricing, delivery plans, production and stock availability, payment status, logistics and shipment timing.
· Annual negotiations. Participate in key customer annual business meetings and negotiations covering sales targets, purchasing plans, pricing, payment terms, marketing investment, new product plans and commercial agreements.
· Risk management. Monitor payment delays, excess inventory, declining sales, channel conflicts, pricing inconsistencies and other commercial risks, escalating internally and working with partners on practical solutions.
· Travel and market visits. Possible required travel to Greater China for customer meetings and field visits to relevant retail, pharmacy, beauty, premium grocery, professional and e-commerce channels.
· Trade shows and industry events. Represent Phergal, or support local partners, at relevant exhibitions and business events such as China Beauty Expo, Cosmoprof Hong Kong, ICEX forums and Spain-China business or investment events.
· Internal reporting. Provide regular updates to headquarters on sales performance, forecasts, key account developments, business development pipeline, marketing activity, competitive changes, opportunities and risks.
Candidate Profile
· Relevant experience in Export, International Sales,
Key Account Management, Business Development or a comparable commercial role.
· Strong commercial mindset with the ability to manage customers, analyse sales performance and identify growth opportunities.
· Experience working with distributors, retailers or B2B partners; beauty, cosmetics, personal care, FMCG, consumer health or retail experience is particularly valuable.
· Comfortable working cross-functionally with marketing, brand, regulatory, supply chain, finance and operations teams.
· Good analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, projects and priorities independently.
· Strong communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills, with a hands-on and solution-oriented approach.
· Availability for periodic international travel, particularly to Greater China, and relevant industry events.
Languages
· Chinese: Fluent / professional working proficiency. Required for direct day-to-day communication with customers and partners in Greater China.
· Spanish: Professional working proficiency for collaboration within Phergal´ s teams.
· English: Professional working proficiency for international business communication.
Location & Working Model The position is based at Phergal's office in Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid, Spain. It is a headquarters-based international role, not a position within a local Greater China team. Regular interaction with local customers and partners, together with periodic business travel, is an essential part of the position.
Work Authorization
Preferred: candidates who already have legal authorisation to work in Spain. Visa sponsorship is not offered as an automatic condition of employment.
