Facility Manager - Madrid

We are looking for a Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer to join a growing critical infrastructure operation in Madrid. This is an opportunity for someone with a strong facilities or engineering background to step into the data center sector, working across both electrical and mechanical systems within a highly critical environment.

You do not need to come from a data center background. Experience in hospitals, industrial facilities, electrical infrastructure, facilities management or other critical environments is equally relevant. What matters most is your attitude: we are looking for someone curious, proactive and keen to learn, with the aptitude to take ownership and continuously improve how the facility operates.

You will work closely with clients, subcontractors and internal teams, overseeing day-to-day operations, maintenance and technical performance across the site.

It is a position to work Monday to Friday and as the operation grows, there will also be the opportunity to progress into a Site Manager position at a new Tier IV data center.

Responsibilities

- Oversee the day-to-day operation and technical performance of the data center facilities.
- Monitor and supervise planned, preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Coordinate subcontractors and maintenance providers working on-site.
- Act as a first point of contact for client incidents and operational issues.
- Monitor electrical and HVAC/mechanical systems and respond to operational deviations.
- Review maintenance records, work orders and operational information within the CMMS.
- Monitor facility KPIs,



including energy and utility consumption, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the preparation and review of maintenance schedules, operational procedures and client documentation.
- Ensure contractors operate in line with Health & Safety requirements and site procedures.
- Support emergency and self-protection plans and other critical facility procedures.
- Accompany clients during site visits and maintain clear, professional technical communication.
- Support compliance with relevant standards, regulations, licences and operational requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and suppliers to maintain service continuity and minimise operational risk.
- Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reliability and operational processes.

Required Skills

- 3+ years' experience in facilities management, critical infrastructure, industrial facilities or a comparable environment.
- Strong understanding of HVAC and electrical systems.
- Experience coordinating or supervising subcontractors and external maintenance teams.
- Comfortable working in a highly procedural and safety-critical environment.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical/mechanical schematics.
- Experience with ISO standards, compliance requirements, CMMS platforms and protocol-driven critical environments
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- C1+ English is essential.
- Curious, proactive and willing to learn new technologies and ways of working.
- Strong aptitude and attitude — personality and potential are particularly important for this position.
- A degree in Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
