Offer Description

The Department of Aerospace Engineering (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, UC3M) invites applications for a full-time research engineer position within the MLPLUS-CM project.

POSITION SUMMARY

The selected candidate will contribute to the development of an Attitude and Orbit Control System (ADCS) for high-performance nano/micro-satellites, within the framework of the MLPLUS-CM project (Consolidación de una Plataforma de MicroSatélite y Tecnologías para Investigación Científica Espacial Avanzada).

TASKS

-

- Task 1 (01/09/2026 – 28/02/2027): Development of a hardware system for solar vector estimation using solar panels and/or photodiodes; study and development of estimation algorithms (LeastSquare/Kalman/EKF/UKF) combining photodiode/magnetometer/IMU signals; real-time implementation on HW; verification and validation on the ADCS bench at CSAT ( ).

- Task 2 (01/03/2027 – 30/06/2027):



Quantitative analysis of the FDIR capabilities of the system developed in Task 1; development of a fault detection and compensation algorithm; preliminary implementation and testing.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

-

- University degree (Licenciatura, Ingeniería, Arquitectura or Grado Universitario).

- English level B2 or higher.

VALUED MERITS

-

- Knowledge of ADCS design and simulation tools and V&V; methods.

- Experience in engineering processes, design tools, and SIL/HIL testing.

- Demonstrated experience in solar vector estimation systems for CubeSats/satellites.

- International experience (at least 1 year of work or studies abroad in aerospace, control, or mechanical engineering).

- English B2 or higher.

CONTRACT CONDITIONS

-

- Contract type: Permanent (indefinido por fases), subject to project funding and duration.

- Start date: 26/10/2026 - End date (Phase 1): 30/06/2027

- Full time: 37.5 hours/week - Gross salary: 2,250 €/month (12 payments/year)

This contract is funded by the Comunidad de Madrid through the project "Consolidación de una Plataforma de MicroSatélite y Tecnologías para Investigación Científica Espacial Avanzada", acronym MLPLUS-CM, reference TEC-2024/TEC-263, awarded under the "Programas de actividades de I+D en Tecnologías 2024" call, through the Dirección General de Investigación e Innovación Tecnológica, via ORDEN 5696/2024, de 10 de diciembre, del Consejero de Educación, Ciencia y Universidades.
