We are looking for a very strategic profile.

Build the conversational layer for a platform that rates the sustainability of 130,000+ companies worldwide. Not a chatbot. A system that lets procurement leaders ask a question in plain language and get an answer they can act on backed by data no one else has.

The company A European tech unicorn whose platform rates the sustainability performance of companies across their supply chains. Their customers are large corporations making real purchasing decisions from that data, which sets the reliability bar for everything the team ships.

The team An AI Center of Excellence of 20+ scientists and engineers. It works as a central capability: small mixed teams of scientists and engineers embed into product squads and own the AI component end to end.

The team is deliberately built as a set of specialists rather than generalists. Conversational AI is the capability they're adding now.

The role

Two halves, and both matter.

- Technical. Design and test multi-turn, state-aware conversational systems over complex enterprise data: procurement, supply chain resilience, decarbonisation. Moving from simple text interfaces to goal-oriented agents that execute multi-step tasks.



The environment is regulated and under EU scrutiny, which means there are use cases where an LLM cannot be deployed at all. You need to know when the traditional approach wins and how to build it. Systems that fail safely, not demos.
- Leading. Drive a vertical with one or two other scientists plus engineers from the platform team. Own how quality is defined and measured. Hold the conversation with product, and push back when what's being asked isn't realistic.

This is technical leadership, not people management.

What we're looking for

- Several years building conversational AI in production, including work from before 2022 on intent-based or dialogue-tree systems
- Evidence of having scaled a system, not just built one
- Having adopted the current generation of tooling on top of that foundation
- A solid machine learning foundation underneath the specialism
- Experience leading a project and mentoring others
- Python, Linux, Bash

What we are not looking for

- Candidates whose conversational work began with LLMs in 2023
- Pure research profiles with no production experience
- People who want to manage rather than build
