We are looking for a Data Engineer who will play a key role in the implementation, operation and continuous evolution of our platform. Reporting directly to the CIO Southern Europe, the Data Engineer will initially work closely with the Corporate Data & AI Architecture Lead and our external implementation partner to deliver the first MVP for Spain and Portugal. The role combines hands-on data engineering, data quality, integration and business understanding.
Over time, the position will take increasing ownership of the local data engineering capability, ensuring that the platform remains reliable, scalable and aligned with business requirements. Key responsibilities: Design, develop, maintain and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines connecting operational systems to the new Data Platform. Participate in the implementation and evolution of the Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse using the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver and Gold). Develop transformations from raw data into standardized, trusted and reusable datasets, including historical data capture. Develop reusable data models, transformation logic and engineering standards that can scale across institutions and countries. Support Gold-layer data products and semantic models consumed by Power BI and other analytical solutions.



Work with external partners during initial implementation and ensure effective knowledge transfer and internal ownership. Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Academic and Operations teams to translate requirements and KPI definitions into robust data products. Required experience & skills3-6+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform or similar roles. Strong experience designing and developing ETL/ELT pipelines and advanced SQL skills. Experience with cloud-based modern data platforms and Data Lake / Lakehouse architectures. Experience with Python and/or PySpark for data processing. Experience implementing data-quality checks, reconciliation processes and pipeline monitoring. Experience integrating APIs and SaaS/business applications. Familiarity with Git, CI/CD and software engineering practices applied to data. Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into data models and transformation rules. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to work autonomously across corporate, local and external teams. Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish. Experience in education, EdTech or another multi-entity / multi-country environment.
