In this Staff AI Backend role, you will define the architecture for Python-based AI backend platforms that power generative AI and LLM integrations. You will lead technical strategy, design scalable AWS-backed systems, and elevate engineering practices across the organization. You’ll shape observability and platform standards while guiding cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact AI applications. This is a mission-driven opportunity to influence how Pfizer scales AI at enterprise level and accelerates AI-powered product initiatives.
Compensaciones / Incentivos
• Define technical strategy and architecture for Python-based AI backend platforms (on FastAPI) with LLM integration and AI pipelines
• Architect scalable, secure systems on AWS (Lambda, EKS) serving multiple teams
• Drive engineering practices and platform capabilities across the organization
• Design and champion observability for AI systems using LangChain, Langfuse, and litellm
• Establish monitoring, logging, and operational excellence standards for backend services
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to optimize performance, security, and scalability of large-scale AI apps
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical leadership




• Identify technical debt and bottlenecks; drive long-term architectural solutions
• Collaborate with leadership, product, and stakeholders to align technical strategy with business goals
• Influence tech choices, patterns, and best practices across the AI Software u0026 Operations department
• Represent the team in organization-wide technical discussions and drive adoption of innovative solutions
Responsabilidades
• 7+ years of professional software engineering with backend and distributed systems expertise
• Deep expert-level proficiency in Python for large-scale production systems
• Comprehensive understanding of LLMs, generative AI architectures, and AI infrastructure (LangChain, litellm, Langfuse, xghoner OpenAI/Anthropic APIs)
• Proven track record architecting and delivering complex, scalable platforms on AWS
• Expert knowledge of microservices, distributed systems design, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes) and cloud-native patterns
• Strong history of technical leadership, mentoring, and driving organizational impact
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Excellent strategic thinking and ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term architectural vision
